Guwahati, known as “the City of Temples”, because of so many ancient Hindu temples can be found in the city. The ancient name was "Pragjyotishpura" which means the light of the east. Guwahati is one of the fastest developing cities in India. Today it is known as the largest commercial, educational and industrial center of the entire northeastern region in India.
