Kuching is the capital of Sarawak, Malaysia. The name is derive from the Malay word ‘kucing’, means cat. But it more likely comes from the Chinese word for port (“cochin”). Kuching also known for its longan fruit, or ‘mata kucing’. It is a popular trade item in this city. The locals often refer to Kuching as the “Cat City”. The city has many historical sites and museum, one of the most visited museums is Kuching Cat Museum.
Miri is the second largest city in northern Sarawak and located close to Brunei. Miri is known for the Grand Old Lady, the first oil well in Malaysia. It was drilled here in 1910. Until now, petroleum has continued become the major industry of the city. This city is also the main tourist gateway for Mount Mulu National Park. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city.
