One word that could best describe Laos is 'Forgotten'. Over shadowed by its larger neighboring countries that surround it, but news of its misty mountains, beautiful French colonial towns and golden Buddhist stupas' are slowly bringing in the tourists. Village life is refreshingly simple here and even in the nation's capital of Vientiane it’s hard to believe that the slow pace and laid-back attitude of locals extends into the city. Modernity has yet to consume locals, as saffron-robed monks can still be seen moving silently among century-old monasteries in the historic royal city of Luang Prabang. Adventurous travelers will want to come for its wilderness, that offers a vast choice of trekking possibilities.
