Central Kalimantan is a province located on the central and southern of Borneo Island, which is one of the largest provinces in Indonesia. The capital of Central Kalimantan is Palangkaraya. Located within the equatorial line, most areas in the province are filled with tropical rainforest, swamps, mangroves, and rivers, while some areas are also being used for plantation.

There are two National Conservation Parks in Central Kalimantan: Tanjung Puting and Sebangau. Some of Indonesia’s longest rivers are in this province, such as Kapuas and Barito River. Most rivers are also used for transportation and centre of economic activities for locals, such as floating market. This can also be depicted on how most cities in Central Kalimantan are located on the river banks.
