This hotel is located at the heart of Singapore's shopping and commercial district. Across the street is Chijmes - a former nunnery which has been restored and converted into a national heritage site. It now houses art galleries, restaurants and pubs. The shopping paradise that is Raffles City is also in the direct vicinity of the hotel. Within a 10-minute walk, guests will find Suntec Exhibition Centre, the Esplanade Theatre on the beach, Merlion Park, the history museum, the art museum and the Arab street, Bugis Village, where guests can practise their bargaining skills and pick up local souvenirs. The nearest underground station, City Hall, is about 6 minutes away. From here it is another 3 minutes to get to Orchard Road. Changi airport is about 20 minutes away.

There are dress codes in many of the outlets. But one night at this hotel is an experience in itself. Sipping Singapore Sling cocktail at The Long Bar is a must for every tourist.
Exterior: Tastefully restored to its original splendour of 1886, as well as improved upon with extensions and modern fittings. The facade is an icon of Singapore.
Lobby: The lobby opens up three floor to the glass roof where natural sunlight brightens up the interior. Old style check in counters, the grandfather clock are all original amidst the white marble floor and teak staircase to recreate that old world charm.

Rooms
The rooms are large with 14-foot high ceilings and elegant period furnishings, including oriental carpets on the teak, marble and tiled floors and the old world style of cupboards and dressing table and bed. They have ceiling fans as well as full air-conditioning. Bathrooms are glazed tiled, again in the turn of the century style. There is a sitting parlour with a bar and TV at the entrance and beyond the parlour threshold is the bedroom. All the charms of the old world with the functionality of the modern.

Restaurant & Food
Guests may enjoy all meals in the form of a buffet or can choose the à la carte option from one of the on-site pubs and restaurants. In the bar and billiard hall guests can select their meal from an international buffet, enjoy an afternoon tea and the weekend Brunch buffet. A successful combination of western and Asian cusine awaits in Doc Cheng's' restaurant. Tiffin' dining hall serves a breakfast buffet, as well as a midday and evening curry buffet featuring Indian and Asian specialties. Long-Bar-Steakhouse' serves rustic grilled meals including grilled fish and seafood, steak, exquisite spare ribs and chocolate cakes.

Guests may make use of the outdoor swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and gym. For an additional fee, a number of spa treatments are offered, such as a massage service.
