This eco design lodge is in the form of a German fortress and the surrounding area is rich in World War I history. This establishment is ideal for business travellers and holidaymakers alike and offers modern facilities for the perfect conference in the wild. It offers a truly exclusive bush experience, being situated in the heart of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is a success story in sustainable conservation where wildlife thrive, including elephant, lion, buffalo and giraffes. The game drives are tightly controlled to ensure that animals are not harassed and some areas are completely closed to vehicles. This lodge comprises a total of 62 rooms including 9 singles and 2 apartments. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a lobby area with a 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, a TV lounge and a children's playground. Child-minding services are available on request. There is a cafe, a bar and a restaurant and guests will appreciate the conference facilities and wireless Internet access. There is a gift shop, a fuel station and business centre. They can also take advantage of the room and laundry services. Parking is available for those arriving by car.

The double, twin or triple rooms are elegantly furnished and are spacious, with a sitting area and well appointed bathrooms. All feature a private viewing balcony commanding views of the adjacent Taita Hills or the well maintained gardens and surrounding sanctuary. All come with a private bathroom with a shower/bathtub and offer a double bed. They are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, individually regulated air conditioning and either a balcony or a terrace.

The Chala Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with live cooking counters preparing speciality dishes and herbs from the lodge's own vegetable and herb garden. The Lobby Bar is the ideal place to relax and unwind. There is also a champagne breakfast and guests can enjoy a bush dinner against a beautiful backdrop at Kudu Point, which is the highest point in the sanctuary.

The lodge has a free-form outdoor swimming pool with a children's swimming area and its own pool bar with sun loungers and parasols. It has its own fleet of well equipped safari vehicles with excellent guides. There are meeting rooms and numerous outdoor venues for dining and leisure.

Parental supervision at all times is a must for younger children under 5 years as the layout of the camp is very open.

The lodge is located 3 hours from Mombasa and 6 hours from Nairobi. It is 1 hour's flight from Nairobi or 30 minutes from Mombasa by private charter which lands on the lodge's own airstrip.
