The hotel is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean on Bamburi Beach, approximately 12 km from Mombasa Town and 20 km from Moi International Airport.Renovated in 2011, the hotel has been constructed with attention to detail in the traditional Swahili style, with the round bungalows, the main buildings and the two swimming pools all harmoniously located within a vast grove of palm trees. The 188 rooms and suites are equipped with hand-made wooden furniture and designed in a classic natural style. Guests are welcomed in the air-conditioned hotel's lobby, which offers a 24-hour reception and a 24-hour check-out service, as well as a hotel safe, cloakroom and currency exchange. A hairdressing salon also features, as does a TV lounge. Younger guests can let off steam in the children's playground. Guests can enjoy a drink at the café and bar, and dine in the restaurant. Business travellers can take advantage of the conference facilities and wireless Internet access (fees apply to the latter). For an additional fee, room and laundry services are provided. Those arriving by car may leave their vehicles in the hotel car park.The rooms are divided into different categories: the comfortable Karibu Class rooms in traditional Arab style and the luxurious Comfort Class rooms and suites with custom carved Lamu furnishings. Charges vary according to the room category booked. All rooms are en suite with a shower and a hairdryer. A double or king-size bed comes as standard, as does a telephone, satellite/cable TV and mini fridge. Guests can stay connected during their stay thanks to the in-room Internet access provided.
