Tongariro Suites @ The Rocks is set in 1 hectare of New Zealand native landscaped gardens and is one of the highest rated properties in the Ruapehu Region. While we are just a few hundred meters of the highway, you will be surrounded by only peace and quiet while admiring the views towards Mt Ruapehu from your suite across landscaped gardens. The property opened its doors in March 2014 and offers a fresh approach to accommodation in the Tongariro district.

Every suite has a mountain view and the sunrise, sunset, rising of the moon and star gazing are just glorious from our location. The four suites are furnished with European flair and touches of bold colours that bring life to the property. All suites have generous living areas and have full bathrooms so you can relax after a busy day exploring the Tongariro National Park. All suites has access to the hot tub on the central deck where you can also cook a Kiwi BBQ and relax in the sunlounger while watching the sun going down. All suites have a full fridge, microwave, toaster, selection of Lipton teas and locally roasted organic Volcanoe coffee and an extensive range of continental breakfast provisions.

If you are walking the Tongariro Crossing interdependently you need to organise a shuttle to get you back to your car. The most convenience option is to park your car in the secure Ketitahi car park at the end of the crossing. The shuttle will take you to the start of the walk. Althernatively you can consider the fully guided option as the guides will provide you with commentary and ensure you are properly fitted out for this hike. Most of our guests take between the 6 and 8 hours to complete the Crossing. There are also many mountain biking tracks in the Ruapehu Region. Take a look at the grade 2 cycle trails like" Old Coach Road Trail, Fishers Track, Marton Sash and Door track. Bike hire available from: National Park and Ohakune.
